Girls day out!

Sunday the men of our house were sick. So Kaitlynn and I decided to take care of them and pamper them and then put them down for a much needed nap so we could spend some time togeather.
We had a great few hours togeather. We went shopping and got my hair cut and then out for lunch.
The whole time Kaite kept saying "Its just you and me mom. Not my brother or dad"
I rember when my little Kaite bug was born and how much her and I bonded over the four years of her life. Sometimes I feel like I neglect her to take care of MJ or other things that need my attentnion.
Sunday I realized that my little girl is not going to be little forever and I need to invest as much time in her as I posibily can!
I want to be her best friend but first I want to be her mom, and a darn good one at that!
My prayer is that I forget the little things in life like cleaning out that closet or scrubbing the bathroom floor with a toothbrush (I don't do that) or all the other things that get in the way of spending time with my princess.
Becuase on day she is going to be a mom and have a princess of her very own. I want her to look back and say
"I want to be just like my mom"

Am I nuts for home schooling my children?

I have had a few people ask me why I am doing it. Sometimes I ask myself that same question but then I hear horror stories of shootings, drugs, 10 year olds getting pregnant, the passing out of condoms, inappropriate teaching of sex, not to mention the mouths on 5 year olds these days. Yes I know I named off all the bad things that people hear about public, private or even Christian school's.
One morning as I was laying awake and I could hear the kindergartners get on the buss and one of them was yelling at either his sister or another kid getting on the buss, I almost cried because of the words that were coming out of this small kids mouth. I wonder, where does he learn these kinds of words and I was even wondering what some of them meant. Then I thought about my daughter who was sleeping in the next room and thanking God that she was not awake to hear them because then I would have to explain to her why we should not use that language.
I know this was not the child's fault but his parents.
Let me just say...MOM, DAD watch what you say in front of your kids because they here it and repeat it.
When you put your husband or wife down or talk sarcastic to them your kids will be doing the same thing to someone else.
But back to the home school subject...
I have had people ask if my kid has a social life. I almost laugh at this question because its the most famous question that is asked of homeschoolers.
Yes I do know that some people go overboard with the whole shelter your kids to the point where they can't even say boo.
But then again you have that in just about any case! I mean you can pic any subject to talk about and you would have a nut going both ways. hehehe
So I hope that I am not nuts for homeschooling my kids. I do want to give my child the most important thing that school is and was designed for!
KNOWLEDGE!!!
School is not for sports or a social life but for furthering your education.
As long as I can give her that then I will be happy.

The new year!

Life as I know it is soon to be over!
My daughter is going to be SIX this year and my son TWO I can not believe how fast time has flown by.
God has blessed my family so much in 2010 and I pray He continues to do so in 2011.
My husband has been labouring away at a full time job at the bank and also has taken on a full time school schedule. Every semester he has made it to the deans list! (I am very proud)
Kaitlynn started kindergarten and is doing very well. She even tells people that she hates math.
She is also taking Ballet, Tap, and fundamental gymnastics's. She is doing great in all three classes but seems to like Ballet the best.
Michael Jr is.....well its kinda hard to say much about the little guy! I guess I could say he is my baby brother all over again. Very spoiled rotten and very cute. Loves his mama very much.
Where do I start on myself? Well I have been enjoying teaching Kaitlynn in school and learning a few things myself. I am still employed at the wonderful Cracker Barrel and work about 25 hours a week.
I thank God every day for mine and my husbands jobs because there are so many people today who have none.
We have been praying for a Church were we can serve. Please pray with us as we search.
