Trying to be patient!
If anyone knows me very well or at all they know that I am not one to be patient. I gave up praying for patience a long time ago.
You ask me why? Well............. one of my first jobs was at a daycare and every day I would go into work happy and ready to go. Not only was it a job that gave me some money but it was my escape!
One day we were having a child meltdown, not one child wanted to take a nap or even be quiet. One of the older women that I was working with asked us all as she was holding a crying baby.
" Who in the world prayed for patience today?" At first I was kinda puzzled seeing how I was raised in a christian home and I tried to make it a point to ask God to give me patience to deal with the kids and parents.
All day it made me think. Why would I not pray for patience? But being a preachers kid and all that stuff I did not want to ask the older woman why. This was something I was going to have to study out on my own. So in my study I came across a few good things one verse hit me, it was Romans 5:3 " And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that TRIBULATIONS WORKETH PATIENCE;" Wow I was shocked, so I looked for some more verses that talked about patience I found alot but the ones that just stood were those that talked about the things you had to go threw to get patience.
Another older woman told me a very wise thing once. "Be specific when you pray."
So now when I am going to face a rough day I don't pray for patience but I pray for grace to get threw that day.
GRACE: Favor; good will; kindness; disposition to oblige another.
These are the things that will help me threw the day and I have now learned to be careful what I pray for and have learned to be specific!
Psalms 45:2 " Thou art fairer than the children of men: GRACE is poured into they lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever." Its amazing how God can take any verse from anywhere in the bible and apply it to your life!
2Timothy 3:16 " All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
I thank God for great parents who taught me how and why its so important to read and study your bible!
We always hear of people saying they have a great prayer life, and saying how they have a great relationship with God because of their prayer life. Everyone thinks they have a great relationship when they are the ones doing all the talking! Reading Gods word is listening to Him talk to you!
Are you doing all the talking or are you listening as well!
